A Small Victory For Obama

In a 20-page decision, U.S. District Judge George Steeh (Eastern District of Michigan) refused to issue an injunction to halt preparations for putting federal health reforms into full effect in 2014, a law known as the Affordable Care Act passed by Congress in March. Steeh also dismissed the major points of the suit -- requiring Americans to buy health insurance and penalizing those who don't starting in 2014.

You can read Judge Steeh's opinion here.  It amounts to this: everything you do under the sun is considered interstate commerce, thus can be regulated by the federal government.

This decision should not come as a surprise considering Steeh is a Clinton appointee who apparently has a liberal track record.    Where the left cannot succeed via the ballot box, they will seek to legislate via the bench. The judge is still beholden to Clinton, who was the last one to try to socialize healthcare, so this is just politicial payback, not a Constitutional setback for freedom lovers in this nation.

It will take some time, some suffering, and the need for Americans to keep voting out the bums but the first step in resolving the issue of having those who act like this judge will start on November 2nd of this year.

The simple fact of the matter is this is bad law, written by those who have little regard for our Constitution, and will eventually be tossed out the door like we will toss out those who voted for this bill in the first place.
